GENERAL INFORMATION ON ANCIENT EGYPT

Ancient Egypt
The British Museum's superlative site on Ancient Egyptian life and culture.

An Introduction to the History and Culture of Pharaonic Egypt
A fantastic site, with plenty of details on everything from everyday life in Egypt, to what people like Herodotus wrote about the ancient Egyptians.

Guardian's Egypt
Another wonderful site, that also hosts The Plateau - the official website of Dr. Ziwi Hawass, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt.

The Ancient Egyptian Cultural Exhibit
Another very good site indeed based at the Minnesota State University Museum.

Akhet Egyptology
Yet another great general site on Ancient Egypt, with lots of information on "Egypt's First Family" - Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Tutankhamun.

The Theban Mapping Project
A phenomenal site, with plans, 3D models and in-browser videos about the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and more.

Touregypt.net
An enormous and excellent site if you dig around, with lots of information on the individual sites to be found in Ancient Egypt, plus much more. This site also features the complete text of Amelia Edwards' fascinating A Thousand Miles Up the Nile, 1877, which proved influential in the writing of Egyptology.

Archaeological Site Photography: Egypt
Hosted by the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago this excellent site has an extensive photo gallery of most of the important sites in Egypt.

A very well thought out interactive guide to the Pyramids and more from the National Geographic.

Obelisks Of The World
An enthusiast's guide to most of the obelisks both still in Egypt, and transported around the world.

Does what it says on the tin. A useful online A - Z of Egyptian gods.

Quite a good site orientated towards children, with a good "Mummy's Curse" section.
